A creative powerhouse widely regarded as one of the top real estate attorneys in New York City, Terri Adler specializes in corporate real estate transactions involving complex structuring. Her success is achieved by understanding the business goals of her clients and assisting them in achieving those goals while helping to build their businesses. Beyond the work she does directly on behalf of her clients, Adler’s legal influence on New York is also magnified by her role as managing partner of Duval & Stachenfeld, where she leads one of the largest real estate practices in New York City, overseeing 40-plus attorneys as they help power players shape the skyline of New York and other cities around the country.
In more than 20 years as an attorney, Adler has developed expertise in all areas of national and international real estate with a particular focus on complex joint ventures and corporate real estate transactions. She has been at the forefront of many industry trends, including creating new real estate platforms, strategic investments in existing real estate platforms, preferred equity investments, and multi-tiered joint ventures.
Notably, she can address the real estate and corporate aspects of a particular transaction and the unique needs of clients in their national and international transactions and relationships. Adler’s varied activity includes supporting major institutional clients, including sovereign wealth funds, in their complex structured investments in REITs, real estate funds and portfolios (including NorthStar’s investment into RXR).
Beyond facilitating transactions and developments for the largest players in the real estate industry, Adler is the founder of Duval & Stachenfeld’s women’s initiative and is actively involved in mentoring and assisting women at the firm and beyond in achieving their own definition of success. She regularly speaks on women’s issues in both the real estate industry and the legal industry and is passionate about issues concerning gender inclusion and parity. The first female practice chair, member of the Management Committee and managing partner of Duval & Stachenfeld, Adler is also a member of the New York Women Executives in Real Estate Association.
These are some of the reasons that we named Adler to our New York & Tri-State grouping of Lawyers in Real Estate. These are real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in both their practice and the larger community.
